Graphite and Watercolor on tinted 300# Arches', rough cold press.. A small watercolor, 6" x 8" with a 3" off-white mat.....The darker pines in the middle ground was painted in with Derivan liquid pencil.....
Laura...Thank you for your comments.... I don't think there's an advantage...There is some characteristics to both. The Derivan Liquid Pencil can be purchased from Blicks or Jerry's Artarama. There are 2 types...Permanent is one type, the other is called rewettable. Basically, the liquid pencil is used to get a graphite finish using a brush instead of a pencil. They have several colors and several shades of grey...I prefer the Sepia and yellow colors. I'm always experimenting with anything that can be dissolved with water, so when I saw this stuff advertised I thought I'd give it a try. I use heavy rough textured paper, so it was fun trying it out. I'm not for sure what kind of results a person would get using a light weight hot pressed paper. Hope that answers some of your questions. I might also might add... That if you do preparatory sketches for your watercolors like I do...then this stuff might be an interesting product for you to try, as you can get a watercolor look i your sketches...Good luck.
It's lovely. What is the advantage of using the liquid pencil rather than watercolor paint.... I'm not familiar with Derivan Liquid Pencil.
